NYC Gala 2016

We were walking on sunshine, and it felt SO good!

On June 6th, SeriousFun Children’s Network hosted a star-studded gala at Cipriani in midtown New York City to celebrating the legacy that Paul Newman created – a family of camps and programs that bring joy, laughter and confidence to children living with serious illnesses.

The evening’s program featured appearances and performances from musician/philanthropist Jon Bon Jovi, actor Laura Linney, actor Kyle McLachlan, trumpeter Chris Botti, NBC News anchor Kate Snow, YouTube sensation Jamie Lou Stenzel, actor Donald Webber, Jr, actor Amber Iman, actor Sarah Stiles, and a group of very talented SeriousFun Campers. The View co-host, Joy Behar, served as the evening’s Auctioneer Extraordinaire, enticing guests to bid on one-of-a-kind experiences like an impossible to get reservation at iconic Italian eatery Rao’s, tickets and a backstage experience at hit Broadway musical Hamilton, or a limited edition SeriousFun steering wheel from MOMO and the opportunity to serve as the Grand Marshall of a Pirelli World Challenge Race, among others. Additional guests in attendance included singer Tony Bennett, Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, SeriousFun’s CEO Mary Beth Powers, Paul Newman’s Daughter Clea Newman Soderlund, and film director Paco Arango, among others.

The evening was a true celebration and featured a series of live performances, video presentations, and readings that illustrated just how special the camps are and the important impact they have on the campers and their families.

The evening raised more than $1.5 million for SeriousFun Children’s Network, providing support for its 30 camps and programs around the world. Since its inception, SeriousFun camps and programs have served more than 600,000 children and their family members from more than 50 countries -- always free of charge.

We are grateful to Newman’s Own Foundation who served as the signature sponsor for the event and Abercrombie & Fitch Co. who served as the evening's corporate sponsor. Additionally, we would like to extend a special thanks to all of the generous individuals and corporations that supported the event!
